2024 TBR is in the dust and I’m officially on to 2025 TBR list. Here are my 8 favorite books from last year that I would highly recommend adding to your TBR!
I’ve been doing the Goodreads Reading Challenge for 3 years now and it’s kept me going on my TBR while adding countless other titles (how a TBR should be). Though 2025 is well underway, 2024 had some amazing books and introduced me to my favorite authors! Here are 8 books that I will continue to recommend adding to your TBR…
1) Book Lovers…Emily Henry (Favorite author #1)
Who doesn’t love a great romance book?! Add literary careers in there and I’m sold. This is a great, wholesome, and quick read with a happy ending (spoiler) that will have you smiling most of the time.
2) Good Energy…Casey Means, MD
If you are into health/wellness or just learning more about how nutrition can influence everything, this is a stellar read. I love Casey Means and her method of looking for root causes of chronic diseases so picking up her book was a must for me. Great recipes inside is a bonus!
3) All Good People Here…Ashley Flowers
My favorite podcaster showed up in her crime novel! I love a good “who done it” book and this one kept me guessing to the end. And speaking of the end…AHH! Would highly recommend for the TBR as well as your podcast list (TBL?). Check out her podcast “Crime Junkie” for hours of actual crimes that have and have not been solved.
4) The Death of Mrs. Westaway…Ruth Ware (Favorite author #2)
Note on the author first, Ruth Ware is the GOAT of mystery for me personally. Her books are quick reads that have my mind going all the way until the end. They always feel familiar with widely different plots. This book specifically was one of my favorites of hers. Murder mystery filled with a strong female surviver role, it kept me hooked and kept me coming back to this author.
5) The Last of the Moon Girls…Barbara Davis
This was a surprise book for me! My M-I-L bought it for me as a gift and it’s not a book I would’ve bought myself but turned out to be amazing! It has everything I love in a book: murder, mystery, family, and magic! Plus I love the man-crush in this one (of course it has romance too 🙂
6) Crying in H-Mart…Michelle Zauner
This one tore at my heart! It was one of those books that would make you laugh, cry, and want to discover your own traditions/family history. It’s so beautifully written and makes you really attached to the people (and food) you meet in it.
7) Death by Dumpling…Vivan Chien
I never knew there was such thing as a “cozy murder mystery” genre but this is it. It was such a fun and cozy read. I’ve read another one of Chien’s books and she nails the quick murder mystery read that ties in culture and food. So get ready to be hungry while reading this book!
8) Real Food for Pregnancy…Lily Nichols
This one really helped me hone in on nutrition while I was pregnant with my son. Packed with information on how the vitamins and minerals affect your baby while in utero, it can get a bit overwhelming but if you love that kind of information, taking things one at a time can help. Plus they add in recipes you can follow during your pregnancy to make cooking decisions easier.
That’s it folks! My favorite 2024 reads. Of course these are my opinions (and unsolicited advice) but I think there is something for everyone.
Share in the comments your favorite reads! I’d love to try them out!
